There are two ways to create a new date or text type Custom Field:
- From within your account Settings menu.
- During a CSV upload.
* Date type custom fields, and individual field data, can also be made available through a contact integration for some users.
Create a new custom field within your Settings menu
Start by navigating to your Settings menu.
From here:
- Select the Contacts sub menu (1).
- Staying on the Custom Fields tab, scroll down if necessary past your existing custom fields to the bottom of the page, and under Add new field, type a new custom field name in the box (2).*
- In the adjacent Field Type box, the default Field Type will be Text. Use the dropdown to select Date instead if required (3).
- Select Create (4).
* Your new Field Name cannot be the same as any other field names currently in your account. If the name already exists in your account you will be advised and asked to type in another name.
* You can also edit an existing custom field
During a CSV upload
If you manage your contacts with CSV files, you have the option to add new custom fields during the "Verify" stage of an upload.
- When you are asked to verify that the fields in your file match the fields in ActivePipe, click on the dropdown across from the custom field you would like to add (the dropdown will display Ignore by default).
- From the list of options, under Other, choose Create Custom Field (1).
- Type in the new Field Name.*
- By default the Field Type will be Text. Leave this or use the dropdown to update it to Date if required.
- Click Save
* Your new Field Name cannot be the same as any other field names currently in your account. If the name already exists in your account you will be advised and asked to type in another name.
