Once a custom field has been created in your account you cannot delete it, however you can edit it.*
This includes changing its Field Type (e.g: from Text to Date, so that it can be used in date trigger campaigns).
* If you require custom fields that have been created within ActivePipe to be deleted, please contact the support team to action this for you.
If the Custom Field was created in your CRM (i.e: integrated accounts), you can convert its Type if required, however changes in Custom Field Name and individual contact Data will need to be managed within your CRM.
To edit a custom field's name or type, start by navigating to your Settings menu.
From here:
- Click on the Contacts sub menu.
- Under the Custom Fields tab you will see all of your current custom fields.
Edit a Custom Field Name
After navigating to the Custom Fields tab:
- Click on any existing custom field name and start typing to rename it.*
- After making your changes, select Update
* The field name needs to be different to any other field names in your account - you will be alerted if you try to create a duplicate field name.
Edit a Custom Field Type - From Text to Date
After navigating to the Custom Fields tab:
- Click on the relevant Field Type dropdown, and select Date.
- Click the now active Update link.
- If prompted, confirm the date format you would like to convert to, e.g: 25/01/21.
- Click Update
- The system will then check your data to confirm that it can be converted into the requested format:
- If your data is compatible with the requested format it will be converted, and you will see a confirmation once it's complete.
- If there is a problem with converting some of your data, you will be alerted to the fact that some data will be lost if you choose to continue. Confirm your choice by clicking Cancel or Continue.
- If none of your data can be converted to your requested format, you will be alerted that the conversion cannot be completed.
* Note: Once a field has been converted to Date format, it cannot be changed again.
