Use custom fields in a text based panel
To use custom fields in your emails as dynamic content, you can simply select them from the placeholder drop down (1) in any text enabled panel.
Use custom fields in a button or hyperlink
If you'd like to use a custom field within a button or hyperlinked text, you will need to use a manual placeholder.
The placeholder will need to be written in the following format:
[@customfield.id] - where "id" is replaced by the ID of the custom field.
How to find a custom field ID
To find the ID of a custom field, start by navigating to your Settings menu. *
From here:
- Click on the Contacts sub menu.
- Under Custom Fields, locate the field that you need the ID for.
- Next to Field Name you'll see the relevant ID number, e.g: (ID:22) (2).
* Admins will need to be in the relevant user level account.
Once you have the ID of your custom field, insert this into the the placeholder code,
e.g: [@customfield.22]
You can then use this placeholder like any other standard placeholder:
Using a custom field within a URL
You can also use your custom field as part of a URL (button or hyper) link.
For example, you can hyperlink the text "Update your home in your favourite style":
to the URL of: www.homestyling.com/?style=[@customfield.1234], where "1234" is Favourite style.
As the custom fields are individual to each contact, the link wont be active when you view or send a preview, but it will dynamically populate with each contacts custom field value, e.g: "Hamptons", in a live send.
If you would like to test this, use QuickSend to send a copy to your email (ensuring you have a value inputted for this custom field).
