Using a simple placeholder you can quickly and easily address each and every contact in your database by their first name, creating a better connection, and promoting higher engagement rates and contact relationships.
To add a personalised greeting to your email, start by making the relevant panel active.
From here:
- Type in the greeting to precede the placeholder, e.g: "Hi"
- Add a space, then click on the Placeholder dropdown found in the text editing bar above the panel.
- Choose the placeholder of Contact > First name (1).
(Some users may prefer to use Contact > Greeting - see below for details).
-
Your panel will update and you will see the placeholder highlighted (2).
It's important to note that this is not how it will appear to your recipients.
The Contact > First Name placeholder will only populate in a live send, when it is connected to a database.
What happens if a contact doesn't have a first name in ActivePipe?
If a contact record does not include a first name, the First Name placeholder will populate as blank.
For this reason, we recommend using preceding text that still looks natural without a first name, e.g: Instead of "Dear First Name", use "Hello First Name".
Using the "Greeting" placeholder
With contact greetings, "First Name" is the default placeholder used by ActivePipe.
Depending on your CRM, you may prefer to use the "Greeting" placeholder.
