Resubscribing contacts needs to be treated with appropriate caution.
SPAM legislation differs depending on where you are located (See ANZ / US references here) however as a minimum you should always have evidence of the unsubscription being a mistake, or a request from the contact to be resubscribed.
This being said, there are a few use cases where resubscribing a contact may be requested:
- If the contacts are internal (i.e: staff members) who have unsubscribed from company mandated communications by mistake*;
- If the contacts were unsubscribed due to an integration error;
Re-subscribing an integrated contact
If you have a valid reason to resubscribe a contact that is integrated with your ActivePipe account, you'll need to re-activate their subscription in your CRM. ActivePipe will resubscribe the contact when we next sync with your CRM.
Note that in the case of unsubscription by reason of Hard Bounce, Deferral, Soft Bounce, and Failed validation, the unsubscribe status sits in ActivePipe only, it is not pushed back to your CRM. If you believe that any contacts showing these unsubscribe reasons in ActivePipe are incorrect, contact email@example.com for further assistance.
Re-subscribing a CSV managed contact
If you manage your contacts within ActivePipe, you can only re-subscribe a contact if they were unsubscribed through their contact profile in ActivePipe.
To start, navigate to the Contacts menu.
- Click on the Contact List tab.
- Locate the contact you wish to update using the search bar up the top, then click on their contact record to go through to their contact profile
- Click the Manage Subscription button (1).
- From the dropdown, choose Resubscribe Contact.
If the contact was unsubscribed outside of the platform, direct them to resubscribe themselves through a previously sent ActivePipe email subscription/manage my preferences link.
Re-subscribing CSV managed contacts in bulk
If you have several contacts to resubscribe in a CSV managed account, the quicker and easier way to facilitate this is to re-upload the contacts in a CSV.
Include in your CSV a column headed "Subscription Status" and list "Subscribed" in each relevant contact cell beneath.
During the CSV upload process, ActivePipe will map and subsequently update the contacts subscription status.
